Juniper Hall Festival of Nature 2025 Poster

Juniper Hall, near Mickleham, is organising a charity event on Saturday 19 July supporting their ‘Grants for Schools’ fund, with a variety of activities organised by nature-inspired groups, including Surrey Bird Club. Juniper Hall itself is a superb country house dating from the 17th century set in a peaceful wooded valley. It is situated in an unspoilt area of the chalk North Downs and at the edge of Box Hill. Being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, many amazing rivers, deciduous woodlands and grasslands can be found on the doorstep. The Hall is run by the Field Studies Council, an environmental education charity. Founded in 1943, it is best known for providing residential and day field trips for those studying biology and geography. Their mission is to create outstanding opportunities for everyone to learn about nature. So there should be plenty to interest any nature lover, in a lovely setting and in a good cause.

The same day has been selected for the Tice’s Meadow Community Day 2025, the first under the new Surrey County Council management of the site. The Club will have a stand and will also be organising a guided walk at 11:00. Bird ringing will take place throughout the day providing opportunities to see many species up close. Again, a wide variety of interests will be supported including badgers, bats, moths, archaeology etc. More details are on the SCC website.
